NCAP elite qualifier meet

Why are there no times specific for 11-12 year olds? How can that age group be expected to have the same times as a 13+? Even the fastest 11/12s will struggle with those times. Come on NCAP.

I think they are intending for this meet to generally be only 13 and overs, although 11-12s can participate if they are that fast. Over the last few years they have tightened this meet up more and more in terms of the cuts and bonus events.

Not every meet has to be open to every level swimmer

you're complaining because its 11&over vs. 11-12 and 13 & over? I'm sure it's just logistics. Long course meets are slow. Time would only allow the fastest of 11/12 to compete I'm sure.

Because they are trying to make it a fast meet for mostly 13+? There will be some fast 11-12 year olds, but it’s not really intended as a 12&under meet evidently.

Correct, most of those swimmers will go to the Machine meet instead.

Gretchen and Kate Walsh compete at this meet. It is very much a “big kid” meet.

I think NCAP is trying to position this meet as a meet that the college swimmers and pros can swim, not just a club meet. Last year was awesome with the number of Olympians that competed there. They moved the date this year so it now falls between US Nationals and the World Championships, so I suspect it may draw some National team members again. My 13 and over swimmer is really excited about it.

OP if your kids are that good you need to realize that the actual important meets are not by age group. Just qualifying time. Which means they aren’t going to those meets until they are teens. If your kids are 12 and under they have plenty of time to qualify and compete in open meets. Calm down. You shouldn’t even care this much if your kids are that young.

Agree. It was a really fun meet and my swimmer got to swim with and meet several Olympians.

Agree with Op in that we don’t have a lot of LC meets for 11-12. Eve the fastest 12 year old at our location wouldn’t make a single cut time for 11&over so why even have that. Give them a different meet.

I think this sounds awesome! Gives the younger kids something to really aim for in the long term too.

My 11 year old daughter went last year when the cut times were slower and had a blast seeing the Olympians and future Olympians. So motivating! But probably isn’t happening ing this year!

That’s a concern to address with your site. Our site offered 3 non-cut time LC meets this summer for swimmers without the cuts for Elite and LC champs.

I really doubt that. My kid just turned 13 and has every cut, and many of his friends who are still 12 (but have birthdays in the next few months) have them too. Have you really looked at the cuts? They are slower than 13-14 age group champs cuts for our LSC. I would think most teams have a group of 11-12s making at least some cuts (especially girls).
