Who's going to the Rally to Restore Sanity?

Anonymous
I can't believe this topic hasn't been introduced yet. My whole family is going and we have friends coming from out-of-town. I wont defend the rally myself, because there was an eloquent essay on CNN.com about yesterday, and I defer to that: http://www.cnn.com/2010/OPINION/09/22/avlon.jon.stewart.rally/index.html

As the author notes, "There is a silent majority of Americans who feel politically homeless in today's polarized debates. They are not activists obsessed with politics. But they are no less patriotic than the partisans." "If humor can help rebalance politics by pointing out the absurdities of what currently passes for debate, it is far better than throwing more red meat into the arena. It's even better if the proponent punches both left and right as a matter of principle, as this rally promises to do."

Anyone else going?

I'm going.
I'm totally a leftist extremist so maybe I'll have to focus on Colbert's rally but I love Jon Stewart and would attend his rally even if it's for "normal" people.

Are they still going to be able to stage the marches without the portable toilets? The Marine Corps Marathon is the next day and all their Port-a-Potties will be lined up along the mall. Ain't no way they are going to share them with the ralliers, and rightfully so.

I imagine that the Daily Show knows enough to know that they have to get their own port-a-potties. Really, pp, is that the best you can muster?

Obviously not a runner! Coz if you were one, you'd understand. Sheesh.

One doesn't have to be a runner to assume that the Daily Show knows they can't borrow the Marine Corps Marathon port-a-potties. Really, what planet do you live on?

Do not worry about the potties! I understand Oprah is helping put this thing together, and with her eating habits, I am certain she understands the need for proper "facilities"

They are getting toilets. Because the Marine Corps Marathon took up most of the portable toilets in the DC area (800 of them), Jon Stewart offered to share the costs and have them cleaned between events. That seemed reasonable. The Marine Corps people said "no". So Jon Stewart will truck them in from Baltimore. Way to go, that made sense.
