In two weeks I leave for a vacation that’s been a year in the making, and I can not contain my excitement! It’s all I think about lately. I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing, but it’s distracting and, in the end, I’m worried I will crash once it’s over.
Help me survive these next two weeks! |
Just let yourself look forward to it. I think you're over thinking this. |
That's half the fun. Where are you going? We can be excited for you too. |
Thanks OP for this. I am leaving in one week and have pre-trip anxiety. Yours was a good reminder to savor the anticipation and forgo the worry. |
Woohoo! I would be so excited too, and would have to keep telling myself to stay calm. I'm happy for you, OP. Wish I could go on a vacation ![]() |
Op, you're consistent with what science has shown--the anticipation of the vacation is half the fun. That's why the recommendation is to do several short vacations throughout the year. Enjoy your trip!

The pre-vacation buildup is part of the experience. It would be odd if you weren’t excited – enjoy the ride. |
Um, we need to know where you're going!!! |
It's not going to be as great as you imagine. |
Stay excited!! Do a countdown to departure.
I'm jealous. I wish I had a trip planned. |
Very normal to be excited. Enjoy your trip! |
NP. I took a long-anticipated, carefully planned trip with my family last summer, and it was AT LEAST as great as I imagined— probably better. |
I’m jealous! Enjoy!! |
Thanks everyone! We are going to meet friends whose DD is doing a medical internship in Rome, and then we are flying to Sicily! I am so excited! |
I'm about to leave on vacation and feel nothing but stress and anxiety. |
