dead cardinals in NW DC

I have found two dead cardinals in my yard in the last 10 days. Is there something going around?

Probably bird flu.

I wonder if one of your neighbors put out something poisonous and it got on seeds or in a small water supply.

Yes. Bird flu has decreased significantly in the last month, no one knows why.

Wild birds are the natural reservoir for bird flu, not poultry.

They might’ve flown into windows seeing the reflection of the sky or trees in them. House windows kill literal TONS (by weight) of birds each year.
