My doctor recommended magnesium for improved sleep and muscle functioning. Said any OTC version would do.
If you use magnesium supplements, can you recommend a brand/source? Choices at the store and online are overwhelming and vary wildly in price for what seems to be the same dosage. Any reason the $40 version is better than the $7 version? Thanks in advance for your recs! |
| Personally, if I do mag citrate, will have diarrhea next day. Mag glycinate is much better. |
| I use Country Life Magnesium capsules. It’s a mix of 4 different types of magnesium. I prefer the capsules — as opposed to caplets or other forms. A bottle with 120 capsules costs around $15 at Whole Foods. |
| I use Pure Encapsulation Mag glycinate, it is pure. Others are mixed. |
| I've been taking Nature Made magnesium 250 mg daily for years. |
| I take the New Chapter magnesium + ashwagandha supplement. |
This! |
| I take them for migraines and found the chart in this article helpful. https://www.migraineagain.com/magnesium-supplements-for-migraine-management/ |
I have issues with both. |
| Magnesium citrate powder is the only one that affects muscle soreness for me. The others in capsule form have no effect. You might need to try a few and see what works for you. |
| 1 oz serving of pumpkins seeds works well. |

Not all mags are the same.
Do not take magnesium oxide - worst of them all. I have tried citrate and glycinate. For me, neither gives me GI issues. I buy Kirkland costco brand. |

I take magnesium threonate from Jigsaw and magnesium glycinate Sprouts store-brand.
The Jigsaw pill size is easy for my kids to swallow. |
2 ounces would be a whole days RDA! What a great idea. No supplements needed. |
