Stylish beach/sun hat that's easy to pack?

Anonymous
We'll be in Italy in a few weeks, spending quite a bit of time at the beach and boating. I would love a stylish, multi-purpose beach/sun hat that is easy to pack. Ideally, one that isn't too floppy or hot, that will stay put while on a moving boat. Am I looking for a unicorn? Hit me with your favorite travel beach hats.

Eric Javits always has a few hats that would meet your requirements. If you’re in the DC area, Proper Topper would also have options. They have a website too.

When you search, search “collapsible.”

Not that it means you can smash them to pieces, but it may be more built for luggage.

I have this and love it: https://hatattack.com/products/spring-made-in-usa-washed-cotton-crusher-3?variant=41964882198617

I really prefer cotton hats to straw/woven, and this one is really soft. I wore it in the wind this weekend, and it stayed on beautifully.

(The tan is out of stock, which it was when I first saw it online. I clicked “notify me” and got an email that it was back in stock within a week.)

I also have some by San Diego hat Company that I like quite a bit. I’m not sure if I got them from Proper Topper or online.

Wallaroo, I think it’s similar to some others suggested. It’s woven plastic of some kind.

Any kind of rollable hat will be fine.

This is cute, thanks!

the wallaroo I use for travel can definitely be smushed. I also wash it routinely, by hand but without a lot of care. But I still pack it by laying it flat, filling the hat part with underwear or something, and then I pack clothes around that. I think it helps if the brim isn’t creased hard.

I got one that is packable on Amazon and it's super cute and durable, and it was cheap! I have worn it on many trips. Search "packable" also. It rolls up in my luggage
