white spots on black car interior

Anonymous
Hi,

Does anyone know of a good product that gets rid of white spots in black interior plastic? The spots looks like someone took suntan lotion and rubbed it into the plastic. I've tried the basic interior sprays and Armor All wipes, but they don't go away. Thanks!

A good dandruff control shampoo might be a reasonable place to start

Have you Googled the symptoms with your car model name? Have you asked a dealer service department?

If it's an unusual plastic texture, the people with the most experience will be those who see the exact material the most often.

It's sunscreen. Use dish soap.

I used some micellar makeup removing wipes that I had on hand and they worked well

Is that 23:34 post AI!?

Find an interior cleaner. The armor all etc are likely just protectants. When cleaning your interior, use a brush specifically for car interiors, or even a soft shoe brush, as interiors can get scuffed easy. Sunscreen is a pain on our leather and vinyl. Sometimes I can wipe it right off, sometimes it requires more work and in one spot it’s no longer repairable.

OP here. I found a product from Chemical Bros that did the trick and now the interior looks brand new. Leather cleaner and conditioner.

Yes, it was a combination of sunscreen and bodily oils.

OMG, I'm 23:34. I work in a directly-related industry where we deal with component quality issues.

I supposed OP might have a more serious problem than just sunscreen on the dash, if it doesn't wipe right off.

Just because you don't understand something or find it relevant doesn't mean there's a bot or AI.
