We are a salad loving family. We have a few recipes on rotation but would like to try something new.

I’ll share ours:

- Garden salad ( blah ) : lettuce, tomato , cucumber
- Shredded Kale, toasted pine nuts, shaved pecorino & avocado ( balsamic vinaigrette dressing)
- Summer corn, avocado, tomato and shallots ( lemon/ lime dressing)
- Bibb lettuce with chives; avocado; toasted hazelnuts and goat cheese ( lemon/mustard/mayo dressing)
- Greek salad ( tomato, cucumber, feta, shallots, capers)
- Barefoot contessa’s orzo & shrimp salad ( this one is hearty enough to be a whole meal)

Would love to hear what everyone’s favorite salad recipes are!

Served at holidays while I was growing up: green leaf lettuce, red leaf lettuce, sectioned citrus (grapefruit or tangerine), red onion, pomegranate seeds, and avocado, served with a simple red wine vinaigrette.

This was back in the day when avocados and pom seeds were a splurge. But it's the perfect combo.

That “Jennifer Aniston salad” is a party in my mouth. Love it.

We have a salad most nights. I like to keep things simple, and my go-tos are:

Romaine (either alone or mixed with radicchio) dressed with olive oil and red wine vinegar--sometimes I'll add chick peas and/or sunflower seeds.

Arugula dressed with olive oil and lemon--sometimes I'll include shaved parm and/or avocado.

Radicchio with orange sections dressed with olive oil, a squeeze of orange juice, and lots of cracked pepper--sometimes I'll throw in some oil cured olives.

Tomato, cucumber, and avocado with cilantro, olive oil, and lime juice.

Oh, and then there's the "meal" salad, when I don't feel like cooking anything and it's the main course: greens (usually arugula, romaine, or radicchio), with good tuna in olive oil (the kind that comes in a jar), white beans or chick peas, either farro or wheat berries, and maybe some carrots, cucumber, or peppers if I'm in the mood. I usually dress it with olive oil and red wine vinegar.

Kale (massaged for a few minutes with salt, lemon juice, and olive oil to soften)
Roasted beets
Roasted Brussels sprouts
Feta
Walnuts
For dressing: whisk together Dijon mustard, maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, olive oil

A recipe for a salad. Now I've heard it all.

Ok, here's one. Put on a blindfold at the beginning of the produce isle, and randomly grab at things throwing them in the basket. When you bump into the far wall, you have your ingredients, so wash them and chop them up.

OP here. Not all of us are that adventurous

Just because salads are assembly only doesn’t mean they aren’t recipes. So of course there are salad recipes - people have preferred ingredients and combinations.

Thanks for posting this— I just remembered how much I love the California Pizza Kitchen Thai Crunch salad, but don’t have one nearby anymore!

I’m a big fan of the fruit-goat cheese-balsamic combo, with some kind of nut or seed for crunch. I made this salad for a cook out during strawberry season last year and everyone loved it! Planning to make it again for Memorial Day.
