Hi-
If you got a 1220 without an ounce of prep or study- what is a reasonable bump if commit to studying and prepping for the summer? Do people Typically jump 200+? Lets assume all of the schools she applies to are test optional, then she would Need to score at least 200 more points to even consider submitting... so please help me determine if it is even likely to boost 200+ Thank You very much-for any thoughts! |
| 200 points would be atypical. |
| My kid did sat prep with a prep company. Initial score in the 1200s ended up in the 1500+ super scored. |
|
kid #1 jumped 100 with limited prep.
I think my kid benefitted from prep for AP English (sorry forget which one he took Jr year) kid #2 jumped 100+ (1290 to 1410) with some one on one tutoring, Kid #2 wants to take it a 3rd time due to learning some math tricks that she believe will enable her to raise her math. I think 200 points would be upper limit - but if your child did not prep for the 1st test, it might be doable. |
| My kid went from 1270 SAT to 34 ACT after tutoring. |
| Mine went from 1490 to 1560. It is harder to get a boost from an already high score - but possible!. |
| If they take it very seriously, 200 points is definitely doable. |
|
I would think 200 points a likely jump with tutoring if the lower scores are in math and grammar. Less likely if the struggle is reading comprehension. That’s harder to prep for.
Also the 200 points is from a single score to a super score, also making it more doable. My kid jumped 400 from 10th fall psat to final super score. |
| Can someone explain how superstores work and do all colleges accept them? |
|
My dc went from 1060ish to 1390 on a single test but his superscore was actually 1450. I know, weird.
He had a lot of room for improvement. The higher the score the less room, obviously. I think it is very doable to go from 1200something to 1400something or more. |
| ^ and there was no tutoring. Just practice tests and kahn academy and practice questions. |
| I think 150 is possible between early junior year to early senior year. |
Totally depends on the kid and how much time they put in. |
A super score is the tester's highest Math score added to his/her highest RW score across all tests and yes nearly all colleges accept them. |
| RW generally more difficult to improve in. |
