We just heard that our aps elementary is now title 1. What changes, if any, will we see as a practical matter? |
Is this ATS? I noticed they had a posting for a title 1 teacher. |
ATS is title 1?! |
It’s much better for the school than teetering on the edge, and just barely not qualifying for years. They will get additional staff positions and additional money to support the student population. I’ve seen it go the opposite direction and the initial years(s) of not qualifying anymore can be painful.

Doesn't APS wait until a school is at 50% socioeconomically disadvantaged to apply? Is ATS at 50% suddenly? |
ATS is >50% low income? I’ve always heard Arlington only applies if over 50%. |
I haven’t seen the data, where could one find it? |
Could it be Innovation? They are at 42% and a high rise CAF building is opening this fall, in the Innovativion boundary. Are they preparing for that? |
Must be ATS. There are multiple job listings for title 1 teachers for reading and math. |
The highest performing elementary in APS is a title 1 school? |
Campbell is Title 1 and is also very high performing. I think it has an 8 in Great Schools. Which is surprising considering it attracts hippie types who aren’t super academically focused. |
Back in the day, 2024, Title 1 schools got more Federal funds to counteract poverty. If we 86 the department of ed, those funds might not still flow. |
Just name the damn school - this is anon |
Handy little thing, Google;

When one of the criteria of “high performing” is racial diversity, of course ATS will be the top. But when you remove this aspect, it’s not as high performing as some other schools. |
