higher cholestrol and approaching prediabetes!

Got some blood work done after many years, what should I do to lower these?

You could go hardcore Eat to Live. It's horrible but works. Also walk.

I mean, what have you done so far?

I lost 10% of my body weight by changing my diet, doubled my exercise, and my cholesterol went up significantly, so I started a statin. A1C was fine though.

Watch the carbs and sugar. Get on a cholestrol medication.

eat healthier and exercise more.

If it's genetic, take rx. Some people are just more prone to high cholesterol/diabetes (like my family).

I still need a statin, though.

Eat less carbs and junk foods like breads, pastas, fruit juices or sugary fruit in general, sodas, and basically anything in the store that is "ready to eat" (other than vegetables of course).

Exercise a hella lot more than what you are currently doing.

Cholesterol: Lower your intake of saturated fats (would suggest no more than 10 grams a day) and eat a lot more fiber, especially soluable fiber.

From the National Lipid Association: "Soluble fiber is a type of fiber found in plant foods. Because it is not absorbed in the intestine, soluble fiber can bind cholesterol in the intestine and remove it from the body."

While food labeling lists saturated fat and fiber, it can be much harder to find out soluable fiber content, so it will take some internet searching. You should aim for at least 10 grams of soluable fiber a day. I try to get in a half to one teaspoon of psyllium a day sprinkled over food (1 tsp has about 6 grams of fiber.) You can also dissolve in water, but I don't find this appealing.

Diabetes: Limit your intake of carbohydrates that are sugar (content labels will list this). Soluable fiber also helps to regulate sugar levels.
