Berlin so underrated!

Came back last week. 3 days in Berlin, 2 in Amsterdam.

Enjoyed Berlin much more...perfect blend of history, diverse and great cuisine, excellent public transit, pretty English-speaking for Germany, more affordable than Amsterdam by quite a bit

Can't get over the hate Berlin gets and its overshadowing by Amsterdam, even Munich. Given its the largest city in EU, I certainly consider it underrated as a tourist destination.

Found Amsterdam overrun with rowdy Brits, stag parties, overcrowded streets, lack of public transit, EXTREMELY expensive(more than London, Paris, Copenhagen esp for accomodation)

Don't get the Amsterdam appeal...Berlin was a place you actually saw locals living in, while the former was just a tourist trap with no locals around and consumerism. Is the weed and tulips that much of a draw? Besides, Berlin has way more history and museums

Lots say its ugly, worth skipping (especially over London or Amsterdam)

I absolutely love Berlin. But I know a lot of people who don't, precisely because it isn't touristy. It's a real city, it's gritty in spots, it's not stereotypically "German."

But I adore it, there's not other places like Berlin.

Completely agree! Went last year for the first time and loved it. We only scratched the surface after 3 days but definitely want to go back.

We enjoyed Berlin with our tween in April. Lots to do and nice weather. Bakeries everywhere.
Don’t need to go again though.
Switzerland we would totally go to again.

Absolutely loved Berlin, and had never considered going there (was a random thing that I ended up there at all). Definitely one of my favorites!

I thought that Berlin was really a cool city. Then again, when I visited it was an island in the middle of East Germany, so it really was a unique place.

I'm from Berlin, grew up there. People are usually fairly surprised when I give them a list of things to do and see in or around Berlin, as they often don't know about it. There is NO WAY to see Berlin in three days. That's barely scratching the surface.

It's also a very green city, with huge parks and forests in it. Also unknown to most. There's a lot to do and see there.

I'd recommend a trip back, there are so many things you can see now that were not accessible previously.

Hunh? Most Germans under 60, unless they grew up in the east, speak English.
