Waiting List: Pre-k 3

So I did the lottery & I was matched to Global Citizens: Mandarin & waitlisted number 5 for Yu Ying.

What’s the likelihood of getting off the wait list? I know it’s a popular school, so I feel like my chances are slim. Is the day after Labor Day officially the last day to get called off the waiting list?

It could totally happen.

You are almost certain to get off the waiting list. Here's the relevant data:

You've got a decent chance of getting off the waitlist before June, and waitlist #5 for PK3 at Yu Ying has received an offer by August every year for the past 8 years (which is all the data we have).

Most schools will stop offering wait list seats after count day in early October, but not all. My DCPS kept making PK3 offers, and in fact, a new student just started in my daughter's PK3 class this week!

If they're starting now, that could be a Head Start placement rather than a lottery placement.

Is it a possibility to start at Global Citizens & leave if called off the waiting list?

Yes.

Note that you might not stay at 5. If they take a kid and that kid has a pk3 sibling, the sibling will move ahead of you and you will have a higher waiting list number.

We're currently #9 on the Pre-K3 waitlist at Washington Yu Ying and feeling both hopeful and nervous as we head into late July. We've heard that movement often picks up around this time, so just wondering if anyone ahead of us has gotten an offer recently or is seeing any changes.

We know a few families at the school who speak so highly of the community, and we’d be thrilled if our son Reece gets the chance to attend.

Wishing luck to everyone else in the same boat—appreciate any insights!

If anyone above you got an offer, your waitlist number would have changed (unless there was simultaneously someone with a sibling enrolled in another grade).

Assume with the August waitlist numbers posted you received an offer at YY? We are low on the waitlist for Pre-K4 and would appreciate insights also!

You don't mean Head Start, you mean Early Stages.
