| Experienced parents: which club tends to promote more players from within to their top teams, rather than bringing in new players from outside? Also, between comparable-level teams at the two clubs, which would you choose? |
| Girls or boys? What general age group are you interested in (early elementary school vs high school can be different within a club) |
Boys, middle school |
Depends on the talent coming in. |
| I can’t speak to Potomac, but PPA definitely promotes and relegates. That said, it doesn’t have encl |
|
PPA will have less competition from outside.
I would choose Potomac for an equivalent team. |
| We are on a PPA green team. So far I know about one promotion and one relegation. It seems we are getting one or two players from other clubs. Last year we had one relegation, no promotions and we got one kid from outside. So no huge turnover but there is some movement both up and down. |

Not likely for promotion at Potomac at middle school age. They have serious player lock itis.
Very likely with PPA as the kids move on and open up spots. All teams blown up in 12 months so that will be a chance to move or move up or get knocked out of the sport being your kid is at MS age. Best |
Would you pick Potomac’s 3rd team, which plays in a slightly better division of the same league, over PPA’s 2nd team? Potomac has more teams in this age group |
|
Potomac family
One promotion One moved down due to injury 5 new to club |
Thanks! Did three leave? Or is it an expansion year from 9x9 to 11x11? |
|
Expansion of roster
|
| Potomac rarely promotes boys in our experience. With PPA I know they definitely promote girls. Not sure about boys. |
Great question. Does PPA have a 3rd team? Do either of the teams have a coach that coaches one of the other 1st teams? I would lean towards PPA given this scenario but I live in NW DC and mentally factoring in traffic. The coach would matter for me more than the team in this situation. |
I would pick better/higher division play. |
