| Hi. We are starting to think about MS for our kid, who is currently in DCPS and has a 504 plan (ADHD). I am trying to streamline all the private school information and figure out what might work for them. But this is all a lot of new information for us, and we are thinking of talking to a private school consultant. We found one through some friends, but they were not impressed with the services much. Is there anyone that you have used who was very knowledgeable and helpful? |

Clare Anderson did well for us finding the right fit schools and shepherding us through the process.

| Lindsay White did a great job for my DS, who also has ADHD. |
| Please know that the consultants frequent DCUM. I used one and it was a waste. |
We also worked with Clare and are very happy with the results. She was very honest and clear about pointing out the pros and cons of each school we were considering. She also navigated us toward the school my DD ultimately chose which is 100% the right place for her and it wasn't even on our radar initially. Highly recommend. |

| We also used a consultant - one who is named frequently on DCUM - and it was a complete waste. |
Will you tell us? Do we get three guesses? |
| Waste of money |
Ooh yes. I love this game. |
| Amore Learning went above and beyond for me and my family. Liz and her team were incredible and not expensive at all. |
+ 1 for Clare Anderson. She recommended a high school for our child which was not on our radar, or that of his former school. The school was a great fit and our child is thriving there. She knows all the ins and outs of the private schools in the DMV. I highly recommend her. |
I beg to differ, especially for high school applications when coming from a K-8. I highly recommend hiring an independent consultant in that case. The school may not have the best interest of your child individually as their goal is to have the best placement for the grade overall. |

| I also used one frequently discussed on this board and she was a complete waste. I feel bad naming her name but she was the top of the top in terms of cost and experience if that helps. She did absolutely nothing helpful that I can discern. She didn’t help us narrow a list of schools, didn’t help us organize anything, didn’t help us define a strategy for our kid, barely commented on essays, and steered us wrong on some key decisions. When we talked she often couldn’t even remember major details about my kid. And she certainly never got to know us or my kid well enough to do any advocacy, which was what she advertised. Huge waste! |
