| Seems like a great place. Thoughts? |
| It's extremely expensive and has a beautiful campus. Back in the day, it had hazing ... don't know whether that is still true. |
|
They have really good sports teams - both girls and boys. It's all boarding (no day students at all, unlike most of the boarding schools around here) so you have to want that. I don't know anything about the academics.
I dont know about the hazing but that may have been in the days when it was all boys. |
| Sports teams are good--not amazing--and academics are strong. Nice sense of community and great physical plant. Being a local 5-day boarder can work well for very hectic households. Faux Southern charm thing can get a bit old, but overall this is an excellent boarding school that's a nice alternative to the NE St. Grottlesex option. |
My post above -- I should amend: I think Episcopal's soccer program is really outstanding (45-game streak without a loss). |
| I know a bunch of kids from Episcopal...they're all great kids. |
| How religious is it? How do agnostic/atheist/humanist kids do there? |
| Quite secular in feel, honestly. |
| When did EHS go co-ed? |
| Back in the day, it was not very rigorous. I went to one of the 'sister' schools. We were always annoyed that our boyfriends had half the homework as us, easier assignments, and could turn in anything and still get a B. |
| How strong is college placement? |
They send lots to UVA, UNC. |
| Episcopal is confusing. What you see on the website does not accurately represent what the school is about. If you are thinking about applying to EPH make sure you speak with a real person. The marketing of the school is very misleading and rather dishonest. It really is a southern school with international students thrown in to pay the bills. We are from NY and wished we had accepted the Lawrenceville School. |
Umm EHS is a good school , but not Lawrenceville good. I'm calling troll on this one. |
| Maybe the 45 game streak is conference play only, but my son's team beat them in the Maroon and Black Invitational this fall. |
