| Hello! To my surprise, my third grader has the reading SOL result posted in Parentvue already. Per teacher and other testing, my child is one of the strongest readers in the classroom, but did not score pass advanced this year. I know the full data will come out later in the year, but I am posting here out of curiosity to see if there seems to be any correlation to pass proficient and pass advanced rates with the new curriculum. |

I was wondering the same. My AAP 3rd grader reads at a high school level, already maxed out Lexia, 99% I ready scores and consistently gets the highest grade in the class on the weekly benchmark assessments.
She barely got passed advanced and she said it was harder then expected. Given how well she normally does in reading, I was surprised her score wasn't higher. |

There is usually a ton of score volatility, both comparing the same grade in multiple years and the same cohort over multiple grades. It is going to be really tough to figure out what is a meaningful pattern at the school level, much less at the individual level.

| My 4th grade pass advanced this year, but the score was lower than what they got last year. Another kid (who is also in ES) said that the reading SOL was hard (we don't have this child's score yet.) |

| Your child is a year older, the test standards are harder. This has nothing to do with Benchmark. |

My child has a 148 verbal IQ, thank you (GMU WISC). No need to be jealous! There's something seriously wrong somewhere if a child at that IQ level is NOT scoring pass advanced, and I'm trying to figure out what's going on. Like others on this thread, my kid has high iready (97%) and is reading books aimed at middle schoolers for pleasure, so I'm leaning towards it not being some one off issue with my kid. |

That was perhaps an argument in past years, but this year literally all kids in each grade had the same curriculum. If the smart kids aren't doing well, I can only imagine how everyone else fared. |

| Teacher here. My scores were really good. Many kids jumped up and kids who scored well on IReady scored Passed Adv. Team as a whole had good scores and several kids passed who failed last year. |
