What's good mamacitas?!? I'm pregnant with a girl. I already have a 2 y/o DD. When we talk to her about her sister, we've been calling her "Belly" (it started out with us explaining that there was a baby in my belly, and somehow that snowballed into the baby being called Belly, lol!!). DH and I have struggled to pick a name, and I know it will be hard for 2 y/o DD to suddenly stop calling her sister Belly and start calling her some strange new name. So...what if we just name her Belly? I hear there's a popular TV show with a main character whose name is Belly, so it clearly has some status as a name, right? I personally think it would be very cute! DH thinks there's a possibility I'm going crazy, hahaha. What do you all think? |
Why not the more obvious “Bella”? |
I don't think it's nice at all to be naked after your mothers belly and a 2.5 year olds ease
That said you could name her Isabelle, Anabelle, Bella, Belle etc and call her that |
Named. Not naked. Presumably the baby will be naked after being born from mother's belly. |
Unless the family is ultra conservative |
yes, it would be totally crazy and really stupid. Come on. |
Could you name her something like Isabella or Mirabel or Annabelle where your little one could use the nickname? Or Kelly which rhymes? I wouldn’t name a child Belly. |
Hormones are making you crazy, OP. Your oldest will have no difficulty at all switching to a different name, so you can name her whatever you want. My babies always had funny names before they were born, and the switch to their permanent name was seamless.

Listen to your dh. He’s not marinating in pregnancy hormones. |
Somehow my oldest managed to switch from "puppy" to Alexander without any major difficulties. I'm sure yours will too, and will thank you for not being stuck with something stupid like belly. Or puppy. |
ILOVE this name. Totally original! |
The tv show is an Isabella, and hearing Belly is grating on the show. |
Enough to change your current name? Introduce yourself to your coworkers as Belly? Try it for a week and get back to us. |
Bailey |
1. Fetus is in womb not belly. 2. Only a fool would even suggest calling the child "Belly," let alone actually calling their child "Belly." Your stupidity is already obvious to all so I suppose you could name her Belle and mispronounce her name. |
