Checkpoints at Canadian borders

So now they are recording anyone leaving the country. This feels straight out of the Handmaids Tale: https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.7528402

Every weekend I go to the supermarket a local ethnic grocery. I nearly always park in the same place. I noticed there is a car that does this as well. What is odd about the car. Is that it has El Salvador stickers all over it and Canadian license plates. Weird.

Where’s best to cross over from Canada in to America and not get caught or have to do passport or documents? Just walk over.
Thx, asking for a friend.

Last summer, we hosted a workshop where I live in Canada with our Colorado Springs colleagues. My colleagues and I were supposed to be in Colorado Springs this year for our second and reciprocal workshop. It’s not happening. We will be inviting our Colorado Springs folks to visit us in the fall.

We love our American colleagues.

Canada halted highly skilled migrant work visas in Fall 2023. Toronto headhunters could only recruit Canadians.

Is that still the situation, or is Canada back to allowing new skilled work visas to firms?

Anywhere. Canadian airliners should thank all the people flying in to bumrush their borders to USA. Mexico City flights to border towns are always overbooked.

Problem is Canada actually enforces its tourist or biz trip limits and deports you. USA doesn’t. So gotta get south before you time out.

Canada is beefing up patrols to catch unwanted immigrants, especially US "immigrants".

I have aa friend who is an avid sailor and races on Lake St, Clair (Detroit so you don't have to Google). The area yacht clubs have been informed that sailors/racers should bring passports and other documentation along with them in case they cross-over the boarder.

Just so you know, sail boat races there (and elsewhere in the Great Lakes) normally cross back and forth over the border. It is how the courses get laid out. It'll be kind of fun hearing about boats that lose because of a Canadian interdiction. Or captains/crew getting arrested for illegal immigration into Canada.

Gotta stop those unwanted invasions, amirite?

We’ve been helping an illegal from Medellin Columbia in a border state. He was trying to get to Calgary Canada. He was sponsored by an evangelical Colombian church in Calgary Canada. There’s a fairly large community of Colombians in Calgary.

Canada absolutely would not let him cross the border as an illegal. He tried to cross into Canada, but they would not let him cross as he was illegal.

We came across him between Christmas and New Year’s in an airport 20 miles from the border and have been helping him since.
