Which fake nails look most real?

Anonymous
I am a long time nail biter and just can’t quit, but hate the look of my bitten down nails. Thinking about getting some kind of extension, but don’t know what to ask for that looks the most real. I don’t like the look of “thick acrylic nails” because they just look so fake to me. Is there anything that actually looks real?

Any ideas?

Gel! They can be stared with short nails. They don’t have that fang sharp pointy look.

Get a high quality press on and real, brush on nail glue. You can trim or file them down to a different shape or shorter if you want. I like the BT Artbox nails from Amazon.

I know this isn’t what you’re asking, but have you ever tried one of those bitter topcoats specially designed to deter nail-biting? Short nails are chic anyway, instead of extensions, can you start with small goals of just growing the nail out long enough to get a manicure, actually getting an expensive and nice manicure, even with nail art of that’s motivating, and then making it a goal to keep the manicure as long as possible? Also remembering that eating nail polish is toxic and disgusting? I occasionally fall back into picking at my cuticles in a crazy way but I can motivate my way back with the vain goal of having “elegant” hands lol

Maybe get rounded tips and S&S (type of nail polish service).

I don’t like fake nails but my dd gets just these tips glued on and they look nice.

As a fellow nail biter I purchased a dip powder kit online and do it myself. It makes a hard coating and allows them to grow a bit. Salon nails are out of my budget.

+1 I use Kiss, Midnight Snacks color.

SNS. Also I moved away from DC and where I live now, having polished nails is considered basic grooming. Looking back, I am perplexed about why DC women are so opposed to a bit of color.

Just get dip nails with tips. Or regular dip. I get tips and they do look real. It’s the press on nails that don’t look real.

Gel or dip nails could work. I don’t find that well shaped shorter acrylics in a neutral color look fake.

I bite my nails and can’t do acrylics because I bite them too (gross, but true).

I get regular manicures with Dazzle Dry (a long lasting quick drying polish) and use this: https://www.nailquail.com/ I go to Nail Saloon in DC. I don’t bite my nails all the time anymore, but they’re always really nice when I have to go in with bitten nails.

I keep my nails short because I’m less tempted to bite them that way, but I go for all sorts of colors. With the right mani, short nails can look great with color.

When I use hand lotion, I’m also less likely to pick at my cuticles.

Good luck!

Thin and I get them cut very short so they don’t look like fake nails. After they grow out (takes about 2 weeks for me), I immediately get them removed and get a manicure on my nails which are now grown out enough to get a normal mani.

+2 they don’t look fake at all. I have nice natural nails but once I broke one and rather than cut all the others down to the nub, my nail tech used one gel x on the broken nail while it grew out. Looked the same as my regular nails.
