| At what age does [year round] futsal become less useful? Interested in views for a competitive girl in middle school. |

If your kid is serious about soccer when you turn u16 and up you should focus mostly on (field) soccer. There is diminished returns on playing futsal at that age and older.
If you are not serious about soccer aspirations you can alternate between both forever. Futsal is fun. For kids u15 and younger futsal is great to help decision making under pressure and developing foot skills. High recommended to do it on the side or at least off-season. |
| Is there anywhere to do futsal in the summer? I know it’s usually in the winter. My son isn’t doing Super Y because we go out of town a lot on summer weekends. Wondering if there’s any indoor futsal on summer weeknights around here? |

Agree with the above. DD played futsal up through U15. She's U16 now and even though she was rostered for futsal, her outdoor schedule carried into the winter this year so she really didn't play very much at all.
We suspect that after talking with her and her teammates, that she's done with futsal. She really enjoyed it and I think benefited from the experience - pace of play really pushed quick decisions and helped with foot skills too. Thinking about it, she started around U10. |
Where is around here? Vienna has an evening futsal league over the summer. Twice a week. |

In10sity has a summer futsal program. Final tryout is 5/18.
False8 is supposed to one this year but it appears to still be “loading” per IG. Take 5 minutes and go to this free copy of The Talent Code. Page 34 starts a section entitled “Brazil’s Secret Weapon”. https://www.teamunify.com/mrpac/__eventform__/850048_The+Talent+Code.pdf If every parent in the DMV read this and then applied it, we would have at least 3-4 USMNT invitees per age group coming out of this area if folks collectively had their kids playing futsal and small format vs rushing into 11v11. |

There are 7 outdoor futsal courts in DC and VA built by Target in 2019. VAStreetSoccer just announced a new one in VA on IG as well.
3v3live has a lot of local tourney’s this summer with McLean hosting one on the first weekend in June. Anything small-sided = more touches and faster decision making which will benefit the player when given more space in traditional soccer. |
Thanks for the info. Is it only for Vienna travel players or anyone? I assume the kids who sign up will be travel as opposed to rec? |
Just googled and it’s only up to U10. DC is rising U12. Maybe for my younger one though |
