Will Villanova become more competitive than ND or Georgetown?

No. Few 🚘 e where the 60+ yr old pope went to college 40 years ago for college. I am glad, however, he went to college. That said some studying theology and are extremely religious might now decide Villanova over Holy Cross or other schools

No, very few have Pope as their career goal. But for those that do, it might swing the needle to Villanova.

There aren’t as many applicants as you think that choose a college because a pope went there.

Villanova will definitely go up in the rankings and acceptance rate will dramatically get smaller. This is great for nova. Pope will give graduation speech at some point.

God, is that You?

MAGA turned Catholics against the Pope. Hopefully this won't have an ill effect on Villanova admissions going forward.

I say yes. Look at the Obama effect on University of Chicago, where he had a strong affiliation. Chicago used to be known as a “self-selecting” school. Villanova is a medium sized university with big time sports and great school spirit, strong career outcomes in an appealing and convenient location. It’s about to get tough.
