Haaretz: Leaked IDF document reveals returning hostages not a priority; Operational control over Gaza far more important

Despite telling the Israeli public that returning the hostages is the IDF’s most important goal of the war, a leaked military document stating the objectives of a planned offensive in Gaza places the Hamas-held captives were of the least importance, Haaretz reports.

The listed priorities were designed for permanent occupation and control of the land and included 1. Defeating Hamas; 2. Operational control over the territory; 3. Demilitarizing the territory; 4. Striking Hamas government targets; 5. Concentrating and moving the population; and then lastly returning the captives.

I think this comes to no ones surprise given that the IDF killed their own hostages (Hannibal Directive), bombed them indiscriminately while captive in Gaza, and is currently allowing them to starve to death along with the native Gaza population. But it's nice to have written confirmation of things we suspect instead of being gaslighted.

Everyone knows this. The longer there are hostages the longer Israel can continue to murder Palestinians, no investigation of Oct7 and Bibi is out of prison.

For years any Israeli prisoner could be exchanged for prisoners held by Israel. All the “hostages” could have been freed in a month if Israel wanted it.

Yes, the whole protest movement around returning hostages was real from a human standpoint, but Israel never made it a priority, clearly. All of those hostage negotiations and deals that had been struck, only to have israel reneg, making Biden loo bad, were done for a reason.

Anyone with some degree of critical thinking and history of how Israel has operated for nearly the past century, would understand that the hostages were just to pretext for land grab and annexation of Gaza. Israel has a long history of using an attacking its own people when it serves the greater goals.

This has been the openly stated goal of numerous Zionist figures since day one. It is clear why there has been suppression of any type of investigation of October 7th.

No one would be surprised if additional leaked documents come out showing that Israeli intelligence were aware of the attack but allowed it to happen. There are already many signs that this was the case.

Israel NEVER had complete civilian control over Gaza and it was NEVER theirs to GIVE to anyone in the first place. They took military control over the region, shut off all meaningful logistics of any form or supplies, destroyed farm land (they spray poison on the crops to kill what grows), limited utilities and restricted fresh water all since 2007. Isreal intention made Gaza a ghetto with the hope of it self destructing, when the time was right they used their leverage to do what they been waiting almost 20 years for. They are criminals to treat people this way and anyone who supports them is equally as guilty.
