Are university terms getting shorter?

| Is it just me or are terms getting increasingly shorter? My son went back to school at the beginning of February and he's coming back today! It feels more like summer camp than college ... |

Please dont describe it to your student that way. They’re working hard with finals and it certainly doesn’t feel like summer camp! |

Consider that now most universities have J-term (classes in January), summer school and online options year round.

| Mine went back mid-Jan and is still going. Finals are next week. She definitely seems to be one of the latest to return back, though I know California goes even later. |

Mine is coming home tomorrow- last finals today. Went back Jan 21st.
It’s about the same as remember. Though he went back 1 week later in Jan than I used to. |

| The current number of weeks per semester at my university is exactly the same as it was when I attended. It probably just seems longer when you are the one taking the classes! |

I think it depends on the school. Not all universities/colleges have the same term lengths. |

I forget if I went back to school late Jan or early Feb, but I was done by the first week of May. About the same. That was in the 90s. |

In the olden days (when I went to school), we started classes right after MLK day and I was home for mother's Day. (I used to deliver flowers)
My DC is a freshmen - classes started Wed after MLK and last final is Friday (although there are finals through Monday). I think it is the same. |

Camp? Not for STEM students, regardless of length of semester. Mine went back end of Jan., returns in just under 2 weeks. |
