Stools for island - bar stools or counter height, fabric or faux leather??

The height depends on whether your island is counter height or bar height. I assume it's counter height.

My island is counter top height. I'm guessing 36" height. Will have to get a tape and measure.

Overhang, counter height and seat depth all play some role to consider. If your overhang is 10-12 inches, I'd probably steer away from some of the more chair-like stools, for instance.

Also, if your overhang has an apron/skirt immediately beneath the counter (some have this when spanning columns or legs) that will play into your stool height as well. If the stool has arms you may have limited clearance to push the stool in.

Thank you! Yes, we have an overhang probably 12 inches and there are 2 legs (the island has cabinets on both sides). Not sure I understand what an aprot/skirt beneath the counter is.

Mine looks like the white island in this link:

OP again - the curved part in mine is a bit longer though and the legs are not so close to the cabinets

You want counter height.
Low profile (meaning not huge backs that block the space unless it's a huge space) but some back is better than stool.

Fabric doesn't matter unless you are very messy.

Do you think it would work? Thinking of buying 4 for a 96" island

OP. I measured the height and yes island is 36" height. My dining table height is 30" and the seat height of dining chair is 18" with a clearance of 12".

I guess the above bar stool I like will not cut it since seat height is 31". I should be looking for something in the 24 to 26" seat height.

Those say "bar stool" so look for counter. All that upholstery is going to be heavy. Pay attention to comfort and also if the stools will scratch your wood floors!

Definitely not fabric - the faux leather will be so much easier to clean
