Trump did not know the UK is a big player on world trade

Sorry I dont have a link, I was listening to Trump's press conference on the trade deal with the UK and when a British journalist asked a question about the deal (basically you say we have a fantastic deal but the reality is that we just have outlines and the details will have to be fleshed out so no real deal at this point, are you overstating the result just because you need a win now?) and Trump responded adding something like "and I did not know the UK was so important on trade, they have so much, technology, agriculture... I did not know before"........This is the guy in charge of our country's future and of our families' future. what can I say, I am glad he learned something with this trade war. Hopefully he will learn something about China, the EU and so on before we all sink. In the meantime, we can all enjoy the "concept" of a trade agreement with the UK

And yet only 3% of US trade, so there is no deal and even if there was, it doesn't really move the needle in terms of what needs to be done.

He has a grand plan, involving 5 dimensional chess, on the basis of kindegarten-level knowledge. It makes perfect sense.

Shaking my head.

I have said it before, but Trump knows very little and he cares even less.

His possible dementia related issues aside, he just isn't interested in leading, is not very smart, and has the attention span of a gnat. His shield him from boredom by telling him almost nothing.

Trump is nothing but a puppet for Stephen Miller and co.

He didn't know that Canada is a big trading partner either. Canada is our largest trading partner. He neither knows nor cares.

REPORTER: But we're seeing as a result that ports here in the US, the traffic has really slowed and now thousands of dockworkers are truck drivers are worried about their jobs

TRUMP: That means we lose less money ... when you say it slowed down, that's a good thing, not a bad thing

I guess if we don't have jobs and can't buy things then no one "loses" money? or something? Can anyone explain?

and this guy went to an Ivy!!! I know zero about trade and economy but I get that a trade deficit with a country does not mean we are losing money, sheesh.

He’s probably referring to the trade deficit. It’s a galactically ignorant statement.

Same moron who didn't know Iwa Jima wasn't the decisive moment for victory in Europe

I hate these idiots. I hate the people who gave so much power to these idiots. Hate has quite a home here.

And yet every single one of his idiotic utterances is accepted unquestioningly by Maga, who are collectively just as ignorant or indifferent.

The uk will want to protect its agricultural and manufacturing while expanding its financial service industries in the US expense. It will be a bad deal for the US.

You mean the string pullers?

Trump is not in charge, people. His narcissism and, frankly, lack of intelligence make him very easy to manipulate. The cabinet members fawn all over him so he feels all warm inside while, behind the throne, the éminence grise makes decisions without having been elected or even approved by Congress. I am looking at you, evil puppet master Stephen Miller.
