| Wondering because a man that says he really likes me wants to date me and I have real affection for him but concerned because I never had or know someone that has hsv 1 or 2. So idk how often he breaks out but I feel it's weird to ask. He says he had it since he was a child and women he's been with have not cared and hes had casual sex before but I never have and I'm a little older than him but only had one prior relationship and the guy was practically a virgin too when we were early 30s. So how to bring it up to someone or talk it out or protect myself? Yeah I know it's common on here but I'm not familiar with in it and IDK anyone who has it. |
| Do you know how common, though? In the US, it's 50-80% of people who test positive, in studies. Many don't realize they have it. |
|
No.I would not. |
| Have you had a blood test to confirm that you don’t have it? |
thar's extremely unlikely. i personally would still date them because it's not the catastrophe that DCUM makes it out to be everytime this is posted in fact I actually think you're the same HSV troll. |
|
I would not.
If you catch it and things don't work out with him, your dating pool effectively shrinks down to zero. You absolutely cannot sleep with anyone without telling them, and most men will reject you. Plus, if you want kids, you're now exposing them to it and the stigma they'll face. If this was an incredible guy, 1 in a million, you're absolutely positive you'll get married snd live happily ever after, I'd say give it a shot and take things extremely slow. But a man who "really likes you"? Come on. You can do better. |
No they won;t/ and 90% of people who have it don;t tell you before having sex including people you have slept with. |
This has to be trolling. MOST people in the US have it -- at least more than half. |
| I don’t know what that is. |
It is a troll. I present to you their obsession : https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/jforum.page?module=search&action=search&search_forum=49&match_type=all&sort_by=time&search_keywords=hsv1 |

So much ignorance here.
HSV1 is essentially an oral cold sore. More than 50% of the US population has it because it is very contagious. |
This happens everytime the hsv poster strikes. for your reading pleasure: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/jforum.page?module=search&action=search&search_forum=49&match_type=all&sort_by=time&search_keywords=hsv1 |

On his mouth?
My husband has regular breaks outs on his mouth so we don't kiss when that happens. I haven't gotten it and am regularly tested in pregnancy for it. |
| There is no approved vaccine for it but disease can be managed well. Its a risk but its up to you to decide. There are many risks with every person. |
| Only if I already had hsv1 |
