I just returned from a week at a rental condo at the beach. Toward the end of the week and for a few days now, I have had a mild rash on the inside of my wrists. It's not itchy, but it makes me think of bugs or scabies.
I'll call the dr. tomorrow, but I wonder if anyone here might have knowledge of this. I am worried that if it is bugs, it will spread to DH or 14 mo DD. Thanks. |

If you can stomach looking through these pictures, I really like this site to help identify skin issues. This is the section on bug type bites, but you can browse through all of them. I'd tend to think fleas or bedbugs personally, scabies usually requires skin-to-skin contact.

OP here.
Yes, those pictures were nasty - but thank you for posting. I didn't find any photos that resemble my wrists, so I don't know what to think. |
| eczema? contact dermatitis? ringworm? nickel allergy to jewelry? |
| Scabies is usually in skin folds and doesn't confine itself to the wrists. |
| Do you wear a (metal) watchband? |

OP here.
Don't wear any jewelry, but all week at the beach I wore a rubber hair band around one wrist. I don't think it's the marking of ringworm, and I've never had eczema; interestingly enough, DD sort of broke out with eczema two weeks ago, in her folds (behind knees, elbows, etc.) So I don't know if we have the same thing, but I have a derm appt tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback! |
| Let us know how it goes -- I'd be interested to know what it is. |

OP here - not scabies or bugs. (phew!)
Dr. suggested it was eczema or an allergic reaction to something, like a medication; although, a drug reaction would be general, and not just localized. I got some steroid creme and was told it should clear up. By the way, if anyone needs a recommendation for a dermatologist, I like Dr. Doshi in NW. |
