This is mainly a vent…
I know the job market is horrible right now, so I feel lucky to be employed. But I am really bummed about my new position. The job duties aren’t what was sold to me and I don’t seem to fit in with the other people there - very cliquey. I’m continuing to apply for jobs but nothing seems to be out there (whereas before, I had recruiters reaching out to me constantly). Very frustrating. |
What kind of job? |
Bumping this. Similar situation. Have you had any luck and what’s the best way to get out of this situation? Do you have to stay put for a certain time before looking? |
How long have you been in the new position? |
Ten weeks |
Ugh, this is what I'm afraid of.
My position will be eliminated on 7/31. I've been looking since I was told on June 30th, but only in the last week did things get hot. Lots of phone interviews Wed-Friday of this past week and one in-person interview on Friday. I did not get a good vibe from the job or the person interviewing me, but they want me. Like, a lot. The interviewer said things like "when you're working with me..." and "on Mondays I'll need you to do XYZ before 10 am." I have a second interview with the president & vp on Monday. And the person who interviewed me said meeting them was basically just a formality and asked if I could submit a drug test this coming week. I don't think I'll like it there, but the salary is exactly what I make now, the commute is the same, and it's a job, you know? All I have is horror stories from friends who've been looking for months. |
Take my job. We can't find workers. Where is the disconnect! |
Similar situation.
I have a tentative new job lined up in the fall but I'm not counting on anything given the market. However, if I do get it it will be so satisfying to say cya after six months. |
What do you do? |
