Fairfax County BoS Budget

Anonymous
The BoS passed the FY26 budget yesterday which includes a decreased property tax rate and a new 4% meals tax. I was pretty anti-meals tax as I feel it hurts small businesses. I still feel that way but we eating out way less this year with the new administration so I won't feel it as much as I would have in the past.

From another article:

supervisors will enact a 4% meals tax starting in January 2026. The new tax on food and drinks served by restaurants is expected to bring in $67.9 million over the last six months of the fiscal year, which starts on July 1, minus a small rebate to retailers and $3.8 million in administrative costs.
