Buying already-steamed seafood from seafood places

Anonymous
I have a dumb question. I live near a place you can buy steamed crabs and shrimp, but they close at 5 pm. I want to buy some steamed seafood and serve it for dinner, but not at 5 pm - more like 6:30 or 7.

So what do I do with the steamed seafood for 90 minutes or 2 hours and how do I reheat it?

I suppose you re-steam it.

But if you are capable of steaming seafood, wouldn't it make more sense to purchase the seafood uncooked and steam it fresh?

Exactly. I want to buy it already cooked & steamed. I just don't want to eat dinner at 5 pm. Surely there is a solution.

It is normally packaged in a way that it can remain hot. I just keep it warm in a 200 degree oven

Gross.

The shrimp might be okay if it goes to room temperature and is then reheated briefly in a steamer basket. I wouldn't eat re-heated crabs, though. They just don't do well if they aren't eaten fresh out of the steamer. You can tell when they've been sitting or reheated if there's a lot of water accumulating inside the shell.

Wait until the weekend when you can eat it as soon as you get it home.

OP here. Yeah, even on the weekend I don't eat dinner at 5 though!
