Have you noticed? There are Lots of Catholic-related posts recently

I think It's because of the Pope's death and the upcoming Conclave.

IOW, it's just in the news. It's not a recent increased interest in being Catholic.

What do you think?

I think it's because something absurd like 90% of the content is made by 1% of the posters on the Internet, and so someone is or a couple people are on this forum who is/are interested in Catholicism.

And that's fine. Catholicism is a branch of Christianity, which is a religion. And this is the religion forum.

I agree with you OP. Catholicism is a fascinating religion and the mystery around the selection of the pope is addicting. Add that to the fact that it was just Easter and people travel from around the world to be at the Vatican for that mass, the fact that the Pope rallied and, against doctor's orders, celebrated with the people, and the fact that the Pope dies right after celebrating Easter and the intrigue is real.

What is "fascinating" about a religion that stills pays money to hide the child sexual abuse that occurred at the hands of Priests ?
What is "fascinating" is the sickening sight of Trump as the Pope and Catholics not screaming how horrifying that is?
What is "fascinating" is one Catholic can support Alito or Thomas. Goes against every Catholic doctrine.

No one flame me for saying this in the religion section this goes hand in hand. He posted himself as the Pope he has said he could be the "pope".
Trump might just become the next pope. When Vance turned the screws up on Francis boy, that sent a message to the Vatican: elect Trump to be Grande Papa or face the music —bad, somber music.

OP didn't say anything about Catholicism being a fascinating religion. so please don't assume that they two of you agree on anything.

DP. The OP said "I think It's because of the Pope's death and the upcoming Conclave." The PP then said "I agree with you OP".

This sounds like an agreement to me.

Perhaps it's because there is a major transition in leadership coming up for the first time in more than a decade....just a guess.

Then pp went on to say -- as is in black and white above, that "Catholicism is a fascinating religion and the mystery around the selection of the pope is addicting" which OP never said. It was pp putting words in OPs mouth

Perfectly natural, OP.

Also, I read with horror about "America Week" - and American-led and funded series of lavish balls and political shenanigans for the ultra conservative Catholics of the world, organized IN ROME RIGHT NOW, that "just happen" to coincide with Novemdiales (official mourning) and upcoming Conclave. Some guests cried off because they didn't want that stain on their conscience, but plenty are still attending.

So inappropriate, and yet so much in keeping with their values, or lack thereof.

Then, in your response, why did you use the words "...agree on anything."?

Perhaps because it was not pp's response.
