Finding a single flea on my indoor cat

Anonymous
Petting my white Persian cat I found a single flea which went deeper into his fur. I went a bit nuts and shaved him. No flea dirt found and just the single flea. I then bathed the dog in a medicated shampoo after using dawn and the cat already is on a flea medication. Where is this flea coming from? He is an indoor only cat.

I presume the dog goes in and out. The flea most likely hitched a ride on the dog and was transferred to the cat later You should probably have both on a preventative at this point.

I actually only have a cat. There is no dog (auto suggest put in dog and I didn’t catch it).

If your dog isn't on a flea preventative, that's how.

The cat (again there is no dog it was an auto suggestion when typing typo) is on one.

A flea preventative won’t prevent a flea from jumping on your cat, but it would likely die from biting your pet before it had the chance to lay any eggs.
It probably hitched a ride on your shoes or clothes.

The flea came in on you. I wouldn’t worry any further about this.

I had an indoor cat who got fleas once. We think it was from sitting at an open, screened window.

You gave the cat the flea OP. Or else you have mice/rats?
