Moving to Boston, Why is this house sitting for so long?

Lincoln is expensive.

Everyone wants to live in an old home except people that actually grew up in Massachusetts. I am sure that there is something wrong with it.

You're considering this $5.5m house?

So, I’ve got no knowledge of the town (I live south of Boston), so I started poking around Zillow to see what’s on the market in that area. I think Lexington and Andover are cuter towns. This house in particular seems overpriced for Lincoln and not really attractive. It doesn’t have the New England charm people are typically looking for.

Not many people can afford a $5 million dollar home. Those that can usually look in other areas- Brookline, Lexington, Wellesley, Andover, Newton, Cambridge, etc.

I don't know anything about Lincoln, but grew up in Massachusetts. Go up and look at the areas above and some other towns.

How looks beautiful, might be over priced for the town.

Lincoln is a great town but it’s rural, which isn’t for everyone. If I’m spending 5.5mm, I don’t want to be on well water.

I know the area well. I would guess $4M. I don’t think it even has a pond.

I know the sellers! But have never been in the house. I can vouch that they are good people.

I’m not interested in buying it … I was just curious after looking at other houses why this one was sitting for so long.

When your high-end, not-in-the-DMV house won't sell, come to DCUM to advertise it!

OP, some advice: next time, try harder than just saying "moving to Boston." Very transparent.

Actually moving to Boston… and love looking online!

Still sitting a year later!

It's 2 houses. The original one and a huge soulless addition. You can see the difference in the rooms, wrt size, woods. The new part has very ugly choice of finish for the wood. It's proportioned wrong and the white is bad. The wallpapers are hideous. See the red room. That's original house.
If you are on well and septic yuck.
A lot of Lincoln and surrounds can flood. The flood areas indicated are near. This is iffy for the $5 m with septic.

I looooooooove Lincoln. If we ever moved to the Boston area, that would be the first place I'd target. Driving through that town feels like you're in countryside England.
