"This letter is to inform you that Harvard should no longer seek GRANTS from the federal government, since none will be provided. Harvard will cease to be a publicly funded institution, and can instead operate as a privately-funded institution."

Because it provides research that saves people every day? Because it is the site of some of the best medical, legal, and policy institutions in the world? Because it's America for christ sake and we shouldn't be diminishing our role in research and academic output, because some man is grumpy about...actually nothing at all.
