Key House Bill that would make criticism of Israel illegal pulled from vote

Anonymous
Key Republicans Marjorie Taylor Greene, Thomas Massie opposed the bill (HR 867) that would penalize anti-Israel rhetroic or boycotts of Israel with a prison sentence and a fine up to a $1M. Marjorie Taylor Greene opposed the bill arguing it would stifle free speech.

This flies in contrast to Trump's former ambassador to Israel David Friedman who claimed right wing commentator Tucker Carlson and Candace Owen should be arrested for criticism of Israel.

Good news. Guess AIPAC needs to up their spending game. A few hundred thousand per politician doesn't seem to be cutting it as American public opinion of Israel is beginning to wane.

MTG is awful, but I appreciate this. She’s definitely a wild card. I’m still hoping she’ll leak all the GOP sexual harassers and assaulters. Taxpayers deserve to know where our $$ is going.

This will go in the dictionary as the real-life example of how "a broken clock is right twice a day."

Of course, she just wants to be able to say that the Jews started wildfires without fear of getting punished.

But sure, still, she is right: free speech!

See, Trump lovers: we believe in the Constitution even when MTG is the one talking.

Apparently there was a lot of pushback from constituents of these voting politicians.

As more and more Americans see the atrocities committed by Israel, especially the younger population on platforms such as TikTok, law such as these will be increasingly difficult to pass.

Deport ANYONE immediately and irrevocably to Israel if they hesitate even 1/2 second in denouncing this trash bill.

This may be the one and only time I agree with Marjorie!

Pigs are flying, truly

Second thread where people are getting this bill wrong. THE LAW ALREADY EXISTS FROM 2018. This just adds "or international governmental organizations" after "foreign countries" in the statute.

It's also very easy to look up the bill and the existing statute.

Well, yeah, they don't want to be imprisoned for blaming weather related events on Jewish space lasers.

When tens of thousands of Gazans are starving to death because of Israel's actions, I don't know what else to call it except genocide.

I have been a longtime supporter of Israel, but no more. This is sickening, especially in light of what the Jews suffered in WWII.

That is not what is happening, though. Please don't give her credit. She doesn't care about the Palestinians starving. She just wants to be her usual anti-semitic self in peace.

Didn't she say that jews control the weather with space lasers or some such? I think she knew if this passes, they could pass other "don't say xxxx" bills to stifle her crazy conspiracy theories.

I find it quite odd that the MAGA people voted against this while having no problem deporting people who speak out against Israel. Funny quote I read:

“If this bill becomes law, how many Israeli products do I need in my home to avoid fines or prison?” Gaetz asked. “If I leave an Israeli-made product outside my home, is it the 2025 version of lamb’s blood that keeps my family safe?”
