The Commanders are hosting the 2027 NFL draft in Washington

WASHINGTON — The 2027 NFL draft is heading to the nation’s capital, a person familiar with the details told The Associated Press on Sunday.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because President Trump is set to make the announcement on Monday at the White House.
Washington hosting the draft two years from now is the latest off-field victory for the Commanders, a week since they reached an agreement with the D.C. government to build a stadium on the old RFK site. That is still pending council approval. Last week, the team announced it had struck a deal with the District of Columbia to return the team to Washington at the old RFK Stadium site ─ which will be rebuilt from the ground up. The deal still needs approval from DC Council.

This is actually a big deal. They get a lot of people at this. I guess it will be on the mall. Looks like there will be a Super Bowl here once the new stadium is built.

It’s pretty clear that Trump watched the draft and thought “hey we should get that here.” But it’s also been in the works for years along with the new stadium deal. It’s only been in cities other than NYC for about a decade and they were NEVER going to give it to Snyder.
