| I have a daughter who loves soccer but doesn't want the time commitment and travel of GA or ECNL plus very active in another sport. She has two offers for GA Aspire but we can't seem to figure out what the roster is going to look like. Any insight into McLean or SYC? Coaching? thoughts? |
isn't GA aspire traveling to the same places GA is? |

If you can’t commit three days a week to practice and games on weekends don’t join those clubs. Travel is just that. It’s commitment. Don’t take another kid’s spot if your kid (and you) aren’t going to commit.
Just play rec and let your kid play other sports. |
| Pick the closer club since time and conflicts seem like the key concern. |
No thanks on rec. I thought GA Aspire would be like ECRL- mainly local travel and a few tournament. Player will try and make most practices but there could be conflicts. |
What age group? |

| GA Aspire is like RL. Commitment expectations are less than GA. Tournaments will be local not a plane ride away. Won’t practice 4 days a week. Many players will have other activities. |
There is nothing worse than a dual travel family. Pick a travel sport and then supplement rec for the other. We have two kids with annoying pissed off parents that their kids are on the bench because they both do two travel sports and miss practice and sometimes games because of scheduling conflicts. If you can't commit to a travel schedule don't join travel. |
| And it’s unfair to the teammates. My DD’s biggest complaint about soccer is those on her team who prioritize other sports over soccer games and practices. It impacts the entire team when they can’t count on your child to show up and participate. |
Talk to the coach. If unable to commit to what’s already described in this thread than don’t and allow that spot for someone else. |

We're on a GA2 team now, soon to be GA-Aspire next year. No, it's still competitive and they will drop your a$$ if you aren't pulling your weight.
About half the GA-A team wants to be on the GA team, and the other half is fighting to stay on the team. It's a highly competitive standard and if you are not in it all the way, expect your playing time to diminish and potentially get dropped. (This is SYC.) |
| They're both good. Pick the one with team/coach that your DD jives with best and the location works with your life. Remember this is for fun. |
