We were considering a vacation to Seattle next summer, then a family friend suggested we visit San Francisco instead. After researching both, I find myself unable to pick which one to visit. They both are great vacations. Thoughts? |
Neither? |
Do you have friends or family to visit either place? Frankly I’d go somewhere else unless you have family/friends to visit |
What do you enjoy doing on vacation? Do you want to just be in the city or leave and go door as hike too? |
Both are awful. |
We are going to San Francisco and then driving to Yosemite. San Francisco is great and you can drive to Muir Woods and then Oslo alto is cute too. |
Palo Alto I mean |
Oh, they are not. You, on the other hand, define the word. |
+1 OP, it’s impressive how you’ve told us nothing about what you’re looking for in a trip. |
Or if there are kids involved, how long, etc. To answer the question, in the summer of the two I would choose Seattle. Pacific NW is so great in the summer. Most of the rest of the year I would choose SF. |
This very much depends on what you want to do. What are your goals for the trip? |
I would choose Seattle if just sticking to the city proper, but if you're just sticking to the city proper, you're doing it wrong.
If I were just sticking to a city, I'd go to Southern Europe. Lodging more affordable, even now. |
I’ve been to both cities a handful of times each for business trips (usually a week at a time) and I’ve never considered taking my family there on vacation. No clue how I would entertain them for a week (or even a few days) when I struggle to entertain myself while I’m those cities.

So I'm more of an outdoorsy person. San Francisco you can easily go to Muir Woods and the surrounding area.
Seattle hiking near Mt Ranier is great but it's a bit farther. There's also the Olympic National Park but you are again talking 2 hours driving. There are also X factors we can't know about like if you have any family and friends in those areas. A close friend of mine lives in Seattle, for instance, so any trip is just some hanging out with her and her kids. |
What? There’s a ton of things to do in each city and the surrounding areas. One of our favorite vacations was Pacific Northwest and we’ve frequently traveled to the Bay Area. Let me guess, you like just going to the beach for vacation? |
