Gov. Abbot calls San Marcos TX residents antisemitic for not wanting their $4.4 million tax dollars sent to Israel

Anonymous
San Marcos residents want their tax dollars to be used to address domestic problems such as education, housing, addiction, etc. and noted that $4.4 of their tax money was sent to Israel.

Governor abbot responded by sending a letter to the City of San Marcos today condemning its proposed "antisemitic" resolution openly flouting Texas state law. He threatens to withhold state funding for San Marcos if they pass the resolution opposing the use of funds to support Israel’s military actions.

Greg Abbott believes criticizing Israel is antisemitism and there are worries such a resolution could ripple to other cities in Texas.

Here's a discussion happening on reddit's Fort Worth Texas subreddit where $54,782,341 in tax dollars went to aid for Israel.

This is crazy. Is there any bridge too far for the pro Israeli crowd?

I guess Texas isn't a very free place after all.

No there isn’t

I don't see anything antisemitic about wanting your taxes to be used for local issues rather than funding aid to a foreign nation, especially one that has better access to public services than we do.

It's tiring constantly hearing how being anti-Israel is equated to anti-semitism.

I mean.. isn't this with the base wants.. to not support foreign wars anymore? Will MAGA turn on Abbot?

Isn't this what dismantling USAID was about?

Pick a lane, radical, extremist Zionists.

If you imbeciles are going to parrot this ADL propaganda that conflates someone critical of Israel as anti-semitic (or more accurately, that accuses everyone who fails to prostrate themselves and refuses to empty their bank accounts at Israel’s feet of being anti-semitic), STFU when others then criticize Jewish people for the policies and actions of Israel.

Either they are one-and-the-same or they are not … you psychos don’t get to change your tune depending on the circumstances.

+1 Abbott can also call TX residents unChristian for not wanting their taxpayer funds to go to children of hunger. Here's a dozen kids who have died already in the Sudan once USAID was forced to stop its food aid overnight due to "Christians" Trump and Rubio.

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/19/world/africa/sudan-usaid-famine.html
The children died one after the other. Twelve acutely malnourished infants living in one corner of Sudan’s war-ravaged capital, Khartoum.

Abdo, an 18-month-old boy, had been rushed to a clinic by his mother as he was dying. His ribs protruded from his withered body. The next day, a doctor laid him out on a blanket with a teddy bear motif, his eyes closed.

Like the other 11 children, Abdo starved to death in the weeks after President Trump froze all U.S. foreign assistance, said local aid workers and a doctor. American-funded soup kitchens in Sudan, including the one near Abdo’s house, had been the only lifelines for tens of thousands of people besieged by fighting.

Bombs were falling. Gunfire was everywhere. Then, as the American money dried up, hundreds of soup kitchens closed in a matter of days.

Right? Didn’t Trump run on us being at peace and ending foreign aide. Did we miss when Israel become a U.S. state or even better for this situation a part of Texas?

What are you talking about?

Maryland taxpayer money goes to Israel as well. Plus Larry Hogan famously signed a bill that requires Maryland’s to not contract with businesses that boycott Israel.

I would prefer our tax dollars were used here in America to fight antisemitism and racism in all its forms instead of being sent to a racist and genocidal regime.

You're not comparing apples to apples but thanks.

You can see how much of your tax dollars are going to aid Israel. Some of the numbers in our area:

Virginia, $500,118,721
Maryland, $374,753,739
Washington DC: $73,466,837

Baltimore, Maryland: $42,205,076
Arlington, Virginia: $18,876,152
Silver Spring, Maryland: $5,738,434
Reston, Virginia, $4,716,280
Bethesda, Maryland: $4,641,140

What a terrible waste of funds that could be used for schools, roads, housing or other domestic projects.

It is the establishment of a religion by the state. We do not give the Vatican the same amount.
