| Current fed. I was offered a detail to a different position, same grade, internal to the agency. Is it risky right now or does it not matter. |
|
I'm kind of surprised as all details at our agency were canceled.
I don't think it's risky because they theoretically would just return you to your job however I know things are nuts right now. |

I don’t think so. Worst thing is it’s cancelled, you revert to your underlying job and have whatever RIF you would before.
But define risk. I’m on my second year of a detail that my agency really needs. My entire component (which includes my primary job and my detail) is “mission critical” but was offered DRP2. No exceptions in the offer. I had been locked out of DRP 1 as mission critical and applied for DRP 2. Denied because my detail makes me super mission critical or something. So, lots of job security, and I just want out. I would look at the detail and what it contributes. Does it meet a real need? Obviously I would stay away from anything touching policy (schedule F) or DEI. But in this environment, I would think if they are detailing people, it’s because they really need to, and it makes you more secure in a RIF, not less. It could add mission critical something to any RIF resume. |
| They are not making decisions on an individual basis. If there is a RIF etc it's unlikely to matter. Agree with a PP that the thing you are being detailed into is probably higher demand which is good |
