Six Flags to close

Anonymous
Just saw that Six Flags will close at the end of the season. The entire thing is sad - we had some good memories there despite it not being a good park.

I got my first covid shot there in 2021.

DD went with a few friends in high school about 10 years ago. She said it was fine.

It was awful. I was concerned about the safety of the rides.

We had season tickets there from about 2009 through 2014 and loved it. After that we went several times a year for several years. We stopped going after two bad safety related experiences, including one where the park employees seemed to not care at all plus some bad customer service experiences.

I remember probably 10-15 years ago posting on this site about a bad experience I had with another customer breaking rules in a way o thought was unsafe and rude and resulted in a minor injury to me. People really lit into me for being unreasonable until said it was at Six Flags, then they just lit into me for expecting anything better from six flags.

That said, I am sad they are clapping and couldn’t turn it around. It was a great summer destination for so many DMv kids and teens, including the water park.

The hits keep coming for PG.

I'm not surprised. There's a reason why it's known as Six Thugs. I don't think the group has put any money back into the park in years.

DS is going there for a field trip on Saturday!

It's a shame it's such a crap park because the proximity to DC would make it such a fantastic destination. Like if it were as nice as King's Dominion or Hershey's, it would be absolutely packed every weekend and most weekdays in the summer. Between locals looking for things to do and the enormous number of tourists in the area who would happily tack a day at an amusement park onto a DC visit, especially if it was 30 minutes from downtown, it's a golden opportunity.

They had to TRY to make it that bad. It took work, active neglect. I feel this way about a lot of things in this area.

We went once. By noon, the bathrooms were unusable.
