Veggie burger that tastes like beef?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a store-bought veggie burger that tastes like a beef hamburger?

I've been a vegetarian for 15 years and have never had a veggie burger that tasted like beef. For the most part, frozen store bought veggie burgers taste like crap. I make my own. The best veggie burger in the area I've had is at Woodmont Grill in Bethesda. If you are trying to get something to taste more meat like, you can add smoked paprika. I put it in my veggie burgers.

We like the Grillers Prime from Morningstar Farms (green box). Add cheese and barbecue sauce, and they are pretty tasty and very convenient. And they have a good amount of iron in them, too.

Some of the Boca burgers taste like meat -- I think the one that is "flame-grilled"?

I'm a meat eater and I was thorough surprised when I tried Boca burgers... especially when they are grilled, they taste VERY meaty! The bulk is not the same as a homemade burger, but the taste is surprisingly passable, so I don't know what the first pp is talking about.

If you have low expectations you may be surprised as well.
I've tried several different flavors and they were all the same in terms of meatiness to me.

I also recommend boca burgers. I like the one with onion or garlic, maybe?

Boca burgers are pretty close. My vegetarian friend can't even eat them because they are too similar to beef.

I have been a vegetarian all my life and I hate boca burgers. This must be why.

Veggie burgers aren't going to taste like beef-if they did, you probably shouldn't be eating them. They will approach the texture of beef or have a flavor that is vaguely reminiscent of beef but they aren't going to taste like beef. Beef tastes like beef-that's why it's beef. The best veggie product I've tried is Morningstar Farms sausage patties-they have a real sausage flavor and a texture recently reminiscent of sausage. How do they do that? The best thing you can do with a veggie burger is put lots of ketchup, mustard, relish and cheese on it and wrap it in bacon-and don't use the fake cheese-then you've got a real mess on your hands.

As a vegetarian who doesn't like the texture or taste of meat, I agree that Boca Burgers are "meatier" tasting than most veggie burgers. I prefer black bean burgers myself.

Give is your recipe, please! I once made burgers with lentils and they were so delicious, but I lost the recipe.

Vegetarian of 18 years duration, so take this with a grain of salt. The first time I tasted a Boca burger I freaked out because it tasted a lot like meat to me. If you eat meat regularly, it may not, but I don't know any better anymore.
