Trader Joe's Tom Yum snack mix is one of the most disgusting things I've ever eaten.

It tastes like Fruit Loops cereal in rancid milk.

Not to me - I loved it. OP, have you ever had Tom Yum soup? Because it tastes just like it, but in snack form. Strong on the lemongrass with a spicy kick.

TJ's snacks are pretty revolting in general. I don't eat that junk or let my children eat it either.

I agree, OP. The smell is nauseating. We threw the bag out after one bite.

+1 we loved it and now it’s a repeat item for us

I am a Canadian, who as a result only gets to Trader Joe’s maybe once or twice a year, and then only purchases things like spices and mustard and things I can pack to bring home. What, pray tell, is it supposed to taste like? Like a Tom Yum soup? What components are in the snack mix? Rice crackers? Dried peas? Pretzels?

I go into my office once a week. When I want to try something new (to me) from a grocery store I buy it on a Wednesday. Then if I don't like it, I just bring it to work on Thursdays. Those people will gobble anything down if it's free.

I feel like OP is also someone who thinks cilantro tastes like soap.

This looks like it should taste good. I’ll add it to my TJs list.

I’ve never understood the Trader Joe’s love.

This tastes nothing like tom yum soup, which is delicious. You’re not missing anything.

OP here, yes I love tom yum soup which is exactly why I bought it. And yes, it definitely has the flavors of tom yum soup. The problem is that when you put an almost-but-not-quite-there tom yum flavor on cereal textured snacks it tastes like fruit loops and rancid milk.

And I also love cilantro BTW.
