Accuracy of practice SATs

Just wondering how predictive your DC’s practice tests ended up after taking the actual SAT?

DC taking it Saturday, last 3 practice tests 1480, 1470, 1520.

But I have read that College Bd practice tests, especially math, are easier than the real thing (which is so aggravating). CB could at least give the kids accurate prep material.

My DC has very similar scores across practice and actual tests. She did feel like the practices were a little easier but she also felt more focused the day of the test.

My kid got exactly the same score across three practice tests then 10 points lower on the actual test. Section splits varied.

It's pretty accurate, my kid took several practice tests (that's all they did to prep) and it was very effective. 1500+.

Very accurate IMO. I had heard that most kids score lower on the actual test due to anxiety but if they can manage it then the outcome of both exams is often quite similar.

From what I recall from last year, tests 5-6 are closest to the real thing. 1-3 are too easy. Caveat, I do not know whether more practice tests have since been released.

DS did better on practice than real.

Forgot to add, my kid's score then took a nose dive on the PSAT last fall, a huge difference in score that should be outside the margin of error. Seems like scoring on the digital test is not as consistent as the paper test - the paper had its occasional issues, but point swings at the top end were much smaller.

My kid has found math practice tests much easier than actual SAT.

Practice and being in the real game are different situations. But you have 3 practice tests so I would imagine the score will fall within one of those scores. By the way, all 3 are really good.

No, not if they were practice tests 1-3.

They weren’t, it’s around tests 8 and 9.

Same. Scores were not as high for the actual, and it's totally not helpful because the digital does not even tell you what you missed, just the score.

I guess DC was an outlier. Their practice scores all hovered around 1350ish. They got 1440 on their actual. Suffice it to say, we were all pleasantly surprised.

I'm not sure about those. There are only a few that are considered reflective of the difficulty of the SAT. I think 6 is one of them.

FWIW there seems to be a trend with the actual SAT getting harder because the scores have been too high since they transitioned to digital. They underestimated how well kids would do.
