agree with all of the above. walk into the craft section of target or michael's and find something that says it's for either 5 and up or 6 and up. jewelry, stickers, beads...if you want specifics, I like shrinky dinks and also the science kits (can be found with the craft kits, but are generally "marketed" to boys).
