How to fit chorus at TJ?

Anonymous
DC wants to do chorus but we are not clear on how to fit in with the limited electives and mandatory classes. Could someone who has done chorus share advice?

Music folks generally choose band, orchestra, or chorus for their elective 9th grade.

They then do the Foundations of CS class 10th grade elective. Often, folks will take PE in the summer between 9th and 10th in order to have space for both the CS course (required before 11th grade) and language and band/orchestra/chorus.

Some folks also test out of language (I think?) and that might free up an elective option.

A lot of folks do it--not hard to make space for year long music/arts during TJ.

TJ does not offer chorus, but there is a chorus club they can join during 8th period activities.

Thanks. This has been confusing in determining whether or not there are chorus courses because the TJ website does list many but have not heard anyone take it

Used to be an offering, but has not been for over a decade. Would be great if there were enough interest to bring it back!

Those that are aware of the TJ course mandates also like to do one of the required ones the summer before 9th - like PE.
