Question about Iceland itinerary

We’re going to Iceland this summer and I’m trying to plan each day. Wondering if we can visit the Westmann Islands on our drive to Vik and still have time for other stops? Or should we save the Westmann Islands for their own day? I don’t really want to double back on another day to visit them but I also don’t want try to squeeze too much into one day. I don’t know exactly what we plan to stop at en route to Vik but I want to leave time for stopping when we see something interesting.

It's over an hour ferry ride each way. I can't imagine it wouldn't be a full day.

I think you’re right. I think we will just have to skip the Westmanns. It’s hard knowing what to choose! But it doesn’t look like we can go wrong, every place is highly recommended.

It needs its own day. Plus, if you want to bring your car, which you probably will, you'll need to book the ferry well in advance. I wanted to go during our two week trip there but we had to skip it because there were no more car slots left on the ferry for the date we needed -- and this was two months out.

Westmann needs an overnight or two. Otherwise, skip it.
