UVA or Georgetown

Which would you choose and why?
Let’s ignore the cost issue for purposes of this discussion.

Are we also ignoring the field of study issue? Because without that and the cost issue, I’m not sure the question can be answered in any sort of meaningful way.

Georgetown! Depends on what your kid wants. My kid liked Georgetown and had no interest in uva. They wanted a med size school, in/near a city, a defined campus, with decent domestic/int'l branding for future employment opportunities. They also appreciated the direct admit to business, sfs, etc. Uva is super strong, but most students do come from Virginia vs the georgetown student body which is more geographically diverse. However, if uva was in-state option for our family, I would make them go there! Oos uva tuition is too high, but in state is a great value!!! good luck!

The Georgetown campus is heinous.

Mine chose Georgetown. He just really did not like UVA. The size of GU he liked better too. And, yes, we are VA residents.

My kid chose UVA. Is a first-year and happy as a clam. Met a great bunch of smart, sweet kids. She has thoroughly enjoyed her classes and professors. She just texted me that she loves Grounds and just how lovely it is especially North/Central Grounds by the Rotunda. We are in-state.

Though this question is always taken over by desperate UVA boosters.

My DC kid had no interest in staying in DC and going to Georgetown--She would have chosen any other school just to get out of the city and see something new. I tried to get her to apply but she refused.

She got into UVA and was very happy to go because she would only know a half dozen or so kids. I could see how this could be hard for NOVA kids who will know many more.

As it stands (final decision yet to be submitted) she has chosen a school out of area. I think a large part of this is wanting to head off completely on her own.

No reason for UVA boosters to be desperate.

Exactly this. UVA "boosters" are just truth tellers. Desperate wannabe UVA Alumni will try to drag down the best school east of the Mississippi every chance they get and it's humiliating for them. I can smell the ink of rejection letters every time I read an anti-UVA post. It's disgusting and reeks of insatiable jealousy and desperation and they should be not only ashamed but also should contemplate removing themselves from the gene pool.
