| Has anyone heard confirmation if this is true? When it will be announced. We are really struggling in what club to join for my Q4 2013 daughter. We need a club with a SY platform and we are in the thick of try out season |
You're not going to get that announced before tryouts. |
| It is not for this coming no matter what platform she plays under. |
Thanks- I'm aware of that. I just don't want to switch clubs again in the future |
| Why do you "need" a club with a SY platform? Relative age is a factor for sure but there are so many other more important factors when choosing a club. Go where your daughter will get the best development, have the most playing time, good coaching, friends. These things will impact her eventual success more than age cutoff at age 11. |
We have a lot of options in our area and we are exploring them all. But to avoid a trap year and to play with grade level friends we need to be at a club with a SY platform. That will help narrow it down if/when GA announces. I am not trying to jump to the top platform- just want to be at a club that sets her up for the most success. We don't want to switch clubs again |
It is very likely you will not switch clubs again. As a parent of a high school age daughter I can say most of the players we know have switched clubs since U12. The girls landscape has changed so much in the last 5-10 years and shows no sign of slowing down. Clubs and coaches come and go very quickly. Players are in constant motion. You may want to stay at the same club but circumstances will say otherwise. Take it one year at a time. |
*will* switch |
I'm aware. But if I can avoid a switch again next year it would be great. This try out process is horrible! We are checking out 4 clubs and its time consuming |
Different poster with a Q4 2013G and I agree with you. We did it last year to get on a pre-ECNL team for our first club move. I want to stay with them for the long haul after a great first season, but it's all going to change so much. Heck this club might have to move ECNL->GA if certain trends persist (not dc area), so it's year to year at this point for us. |
|
No matter what team your kid plays on this upcoming year, next year at this time, all teams will get shaken up.
If there's the one, big club in the area all kids want to be at, all the Q4s from all clubs will go try out for that super club. If 4 or 5 new Q4s are taken on by the big club, there's a ripple effect downstream with players leaving that club for other teams. |

Word is the GA will announce something in May.
|
| We received an email from our GA club asking for grade of each kid instead of birth month and year so not sure if that means anything. |

GA allows players to play is HS, so the writing is on the wall that they will eventually announce school year. Same with MLSN Tier 2.
The only one likely to stay BY is MLSN as they don't allow HS play and thus its not an issue. Though have also heard they might go SY, and then just have the MLS Academies stay BY, and then just play those BY teams up a year against the older competition. |
